5 THINGS THAT YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT MERCEDEZ-BENZ

If we look back into the origin of Mercedes, we will get its foundation in somewhere around the 1880s. Since, this time, it has been seen as the trademark of automobiles and no one can control looking back at the Mercedes when it passes by. Its popularity among the travelers has coerced to include Mercedes in the wedding chauffeur car services. However, very few people are aware of the in-depth history of Mercedes-Benz.  So, here we have compiled 5 truths that you didn’t know about the German luxury brand:

Karl Benz invented the first automobile

Back in the year 18886, Karl Benz invented the first vehicle that we call as cars. The internal combustion vehicle was first driven around in 1886. It was called Patent Motorwagen that was a three-wheeled vehicle accumulating a steel tube frame, small gasoline-powered engine, and wooden panels. At that time, it was just 2/3 horsepower that was obviously far less than the usual horse speed.

Bertha Benz

Bertha Benz the wife of Karl Benz played a huge role in advertising the giant automobile group. She helped in financing the project and did take care of the whole advertising process. Although, she was not the inventor of the luxury vehicle, yet she with her sons Richard and Eugen went out on the first trip from Mannheim to Pforzheim. The trip was of approximately 120 miles and Bertha did stop in between to have some ligroin petroleum and a can of red bull.

In the above section, we discussed facts about Benz, but who was Mercedes. Emil Jellenik was a customer of  Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft, this is the company that would later merge with Benz & Co.Rheinische Gasmotoren-Fabrik  to form Mercedes-Benz. His daughter’s name was Mercedes and he used this name to mark his trade name in 1902. Since then, this name was added with Benz and all the products started coming out with this name only. Since that time, it has never been a look back for Mercedes and its series.

Mercedes three-pointed logo was a four-pointed star in the beginning. Each of these points represented the mobility on air, water and land and the fourth point was meant for representing space. But later on, the company decided on skipping the space part and stayed with the three stars from 1910 onwards. The circle came into existence a little later in 1916.

Adolf-Hitler: a Mercedes fan

Adolf Hitler was a diehard fan of Mercedes Benz and after he was appointed as the German Chancellor, he started funding Mercedes and Audi. Along with the race cars, he was also fond of Mercedes road cars.

With a very bright starting, Mercedes kept ruling the heart of automobile lovers and is now counted among dream cars of many.
